Program Overview

Discovery Education, USAA, and Texas ASCD have teamed up to create STEMvest. This community-wide program places students, teachers, administrators and parents in San Antonio at the forefront of a positive and sustainable shift in STEM culture and improvement in financial literacy. Designed to strengthen educators through professional development and to educate students in middle and high school—STEMvest seeks to help improve students’ academics, career paths and life trajectories.

STEMvest strengthens San Antonio by elevating STEM and financial literacy skills of middle school and high school students while providing essential professional development for educators.

It gives our community the tools students need to:

  • understand and embrace STEM to increase college and workforce readiness
  • grow the financial skills important to build a brighter future
  • visualize themselves in any career they choose to pursue

This 3-year long community-wide partnership is focused on impact and results.

Welcome to Your Future


Students in grades 9-12 can learn how to make responsible choices when it comes to personal finance in this engaging, self-paced activity aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).

Welcome to Your Future transports students to various destinations where they’ll have to make their choices about how to spend their hard-earned money on transportation, housing, electronics and more. The future is filled with big spending decisions, each with special considerations. Perfect for in-class instruction, self-directed student engagement or at home learning with the family!
